The Growing Hub at Nottinghamshire County Show 2024

The Growing Hub is continuing to flourish at the Nottingham County Show, 11th May 2024, with even more tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your garden and growing spaces. Grow Incredible CIC continues to take centre role in the overall project management and coordination of The Growing Hub. This year we are delighted to be joined in the Growing Hub by The Crop Club CIC, Lew’s Roots, Winthorpe Road Community Garden and Radcliffe on Trent Community Garden. Learn how they engage with local communities to get people connected with growing, improving physical and mental wellbeing.

Don’t despair if you don’t have a garden, we have small space gardening tips and tricks for growing in a back yard or window box. We welcome you to come share your ideas too, so please take a photo on your phone to share with our small space garden guru. With the summer holidays rapidly approaching our “Kids do gardens” area is managed by a leading expert, who has spent a long career teaching young child, and has developed a broad range of tried and tested activities to keep your children entertained, educated and engaged within a garden setting.

Meet the experts

With years of experience in soil health, crop nutrition and food waste composting, visitors received the very best support.

A leading expert in crop nutrition was on hand to demonstrate deficiency symptoms caused by a lack of twelve different plant nutrients.

You could also learn about soil health, with visitors bringing soil samples taken from their own gardens and allotments to The Growing Hub, for a free soil pH test and guidance on improving soil health. Listen out for the BBC Radio Notts broadcast taken at The Growing Hub

A great demonstration of our Climate Smart Food Waste Composting was given to visitors to the Hub. Monitoring changes in temperature and pH of the compost during the 6-8 week composting process we can advise on adjustments to the proportions of base materials being composted. This ensures an optimal C:N ratio for each stage of the process. The final result is a nutrient rich compost ready to enhance soil structure and plant growth in your garden, See our Climate Smart Food Waste Composting services.
